I need to remove the front/rear traverse springs from sub frames that are not in a car. Can't use a floor jack. Putting C4 suspension in a 55 Chevy. Confused as to which adaptors, and length of the jack screw I need for the Kent-Moore J-33432 spring compressor. Looking to buy one reasonable too.

Just for info people pull them out all the time without any special tools,
on the front just separate the knuckle from the top and bottom arms.
I guess having the subframes out of the car makes it a bit different, but just turns it into a problem solving exercise of how to place it while undoing things and letting the tension out of the spring.
How much of the subframe is there ?
Having the k member out of the car makes other methods more difficult not having the weight of the car to work with. Eventually I will end up removing springs more than once trying to get the right spring rate. Just seems like a good investment to have the correct tool on hand for the job. Can always re-sell it when I'm done. Just want to buy the right tool, and adaptors. I have seen some kent-moore compressors for sale have 2 different lengths of jack screws, and 2 different adaptor sets. Just not sure which ones I need. I think one set up is for the C4, and the other is for a C5. I have a C5 too, but no plan to remove the spring on that car. Just looking for the C4 set. Thanks
I suggest to call local GM CAR dealer see what the would charge to do it or loan the tool. They all should have had one. Former Pontiac, Olds, and Buick dealers might sell it. Since it is somewhat obsolete and seldom used other than on Corvettes and the XLR
