Re: Does messing w/your Vette ever get old? (dbwade36)
My only complaint is that I do not have enough time to modify or fix. It becomes like an addiction once you upgrade your first part you just can't stop.
Re: Does messing w/your Vette ever get old? (We Gone)
I always do as much work as possible to my car. Like said above, it may take 2 or 3 times longer, but think of it this way... pay some guy $60 an hour to do the work ... divide that by 2 or 3 (for it taking you 2-3 times as long) and by doing the work, you're pretty much paying yourself $20-$30 an hour for doing the work, as an amature. :yesnod:

I'll be the first to say SOMETIMES! Sometimes I have to just walk away for a week but after that week is over it's like it's brand new all over again :D
Re: Does messing w/your Vette ever get old? (dbwade36)
I have only had this Vette for about 2 months. Thus far, I spend almost everyday cleaning/fixing/upgrading, something, (when it isn't in the shop for the major upgrades, ie paint, rear-end, etc). I am curious. does it ever get old? Or will I just find more things to do? BTW- I went to the rear-end shop yesturday and spent about 3 hours w/ some Simple Green and tons of shop rags cleaning the rear and front suspension and drive-train, so they will be nice and pretty like the new rear and tranny... am I nuts?
No, it doesn't get old. Yes, you will find more things to do. You are not nuts, this sounds like perfectly normal behavior to me.
PS, I use simple green to clean front and rear suspension to, I find that it works good.

I have only had my vette for a month or so, but suppose it is the same as my Harley. It is very satisfiying to make an upgrade that WORKS  and enjoy the benefits. But when it is broke and I need it, then it is a PITA.

Tinkering doesn't get old.
Unexpected catastrophic failures get old. :D
If it's not one thing, it's another. I'm currently ignoring a floppy tilt wheel, a transmission shudder, and a strange sound from the steering rack. I just don't want to know...

hmm i changed the oil today for S&G's. i just finished washing it at 9pm.
hmmm maybe i'm a little  but no it doesn't get old. but is it going to far to set a savings account for mods??? :D
Re: Does messing w/your Vette ever get old? (dbwade36)
No, you're not nuts! I'm always messing with my '85 to make it look and perform better. When it comes time to fix something mechanical, I look at it as a learning experience. The car is not as hard to work on as I though it would be and it still brings a smile to my face when I twist the ignition key. Playing with this car will never get old! :chevy

It's relaxing to tinker and improve the looks / operation. Stressfull to repair under a deadline such as a show or display or cruise night, etc. :boxing
Or when your latest project breaks or has teething problems.
It never ends, every time I make a change or install a new mod, I am already thinking about what I will do next before I even close the bonnet and take it for a test run. When I run out of mods I will probably get bored but with my current spending progress that will take a long while...
