Default Requesting more wheel info.

Okay, so I've been continuing my hunt for wheels to fit my 84.

I already asked about the fitment and bolt pattern, and I thought I could go from there. The more wheels I look at, the more complicated this process seems.

Purely speaking of wheels, leaving tyres until after I make certain I can get wheels that fit and nail it the first time.

Also I please ask in advance that you dumb this down as far as possible for me for the time being -- this business has so many terms and such that it's overwhelming for a rookie like myself.

So I know the front offset for the 84 is +32, and the rear is +38, and both wheels are 16x9. I understand my stud pattern is 120.65 and I have learned that deviation from this will not cleanly fit.

So my questions are: If I were to have 9in wide wheels on the front, and hopefully 10in (or even 11 if size allowed) on the rear, what would be the maximum and minimum offsets I could get that would clear everything in each well?

And just to ensure I have this correct, offset starts at 0, and the closer it gets to the outside of the wheel (the outside of the car) is + offset? Meaning that the +32 on the front means that the wheels bolt on 32mm from the centre of the barrel?

Sorry if any of this seems stupid.

An ideal fitment (OE 9 1/2 @38 X 4), I would base all comparisons on that specification as you know that it fits front/rear with NO PROBLEMS.

The CF has a "wheel offset calculator" that for comparisons should work for you BUT learn the math and do the confirmation on paper OR ASK. There are other calculators on line but trust NONE until you understand the math.

Disregard the tire and only concern yourself with wheels OR IF YOU MUST use 17" wheels and 275/40R17 for comparisons.

Compare everything to 9 1/2 @38 --

You seem to understand the idea but I can't imagine desiring a "stagger" front to rear. A 4X something I'd think much more desirable. There are so many combinations that "FIT" - some better than others so it's impossible to say what will or what is known to. Your location has you brand restricted I believe.

I am restricted. The current wheels I'm looking at are Work VS-XX, but will be custom, as I've found a reputable dealer who can order specific fitments straight from WORK.

The inquiry I've made to them was a set of four 5x120.65 patterns wheels with a rim diameter of 18in and 38 offset on all four.

the two for the front are hopefully 9 or 9.5in wide, and I've asked if 10.5 rear is doable for WORK - and it is.

I was quoted at 2800(AUD) for the set so the pricing is extremely good compared to my other options.

You asked about the stagger, and I would like wider wheels on the rear because I want the muscle look; to have fat rubber on the rear, and skinnier on the front, despite being able to fit 10in wide wheels all around. Just a preference for the look I'm chasing.

Maybe toy around with 10 1/2 @40 for the rear or a # very close to that.

Maybe tire sizing would affect your particular choice, a 9" at the front might be more practical for some tire sizes. Maybe!

*** If there were an "off the shelf" wheel that they stocked rather than fabricated to order that could "influence a decision". So long as it were an "off the shelf", then if ever there were a need for a replacement it could be 1) less expensive, 2) more readily available
