Default Edelbrock Fuel Pump?

Any advantages over AC Delco besides allowing more fuel to flow in 88 Vette? Will any other mods need to be done if Edelbrock is installed? Thanks!

I would think that you're likely only paying for the name and the decal that's in the box. It's certainly only a repackaged pump by "someone" and currently that "someone" is generally an "off-shore" vendor. You could likely save money and buy equal or better (likely) local.

I can't say anything better regarding the ACD product either. I'd shop local and compare what's available and enjoy the benefits of buying local. There's likely many options. Use maybe the "on-line" pricing as a bargaining point maybe but consider the local guy is right there for you if you have issues and anything other is well .................

Just get the racetronix upgrade if you have any performance aspirations. 255lph, complete bolt in swap. Not a big deal, and isn't that expensive.

This sounds good. Can I use the "performance" kit without doing any other upgrades or would I just need the "factory" kit? There's only a $10 difference between the two pumps and I would prefer the performance kit but it depends on what upgrades would be necessary.

Also....is there a Racetronix vendor here on the forum? Thanks again.

If this car is stock there's no need for the Racetronix and I believe there's many "counterfeit" Racetronics out there in the market-place.

None of the performance (term used loosely) are worth a damn without an upgrade in the wiring. A wiring upgrade will actually improve the performance of likely the least expensive "on the shelf".

Thanks...I decided to go with a Delphi unit. My mechanic said they are reliable and I can pick it up locally in case I have warranty issues. Thanks again!

People often say that but when Mom worked at Sta Rite, they had their own brand of pumps. They also sold to many other companies. Question you might ask is what the difference is. At a quick glance, nothing. Tear it apart and you get brass internals and plastic internals. Cheaper ones got plastic.

Ford cam sensor for powerstroke motor. More expensive than international. Same part number but different box.

Auto Glass Specialists. My MB rain sensor would NOT work on the AGS sheet but put a sheet from the dealership with the star on it and it works. They swore it was from the same factory and I believe them. Spec might be different. Cost them a "same factory" sheet to prove that same factory doesn't mean same spec.

When you say that it is the same because it comes from the same factory, you have to be sure if it is really the SAME thing or a different grade.

I'm not sure I would simply because if I ever did want the fuel, the Delphi might not work at that point. IDK what the specs are. Besides it is really easy to DIY. Take the screws out and you don't even have to drain the tank or get under the car.

I understand every bit of that and that's also a good reason to avoid the "higher priced" unit. It's very difficult to determine just what's inside the pump. The 'denso pumps get good reviews and if the OP is buying Delphi you can actually pick/choose the assembled specs. Do they meet the advertised specs? Who knows.

The rain sensor issue I do believe I understand and some insurance/shops will avoid anything but an OE - yours decided to "gamble" - they may NOT any longer OR perhaps yours is the only hand that they've lost at. They wont tell you I'll bet.

The OP if he chose Delphi has likely 2 or 3 choices. L98 pump is 350kpa likely and the LT1/4 pump is 425 kpa likely. Flow on the L98 is 16 the LT1/4 27 likely. Delphi has "limited lifetime" and you mention if the OP had a later requirement for "more" well it's another purchase. So what? He doesn't express the need now and might never.

I got a Edelbrock pump from Summit. Has "Walbro" stamped on it.

All that tells me is that Walbro made it for Edelbrock under some private label. It might, for all you know, come out of the same factory even. Doesn't tell me if Walbro makes it to the same spec or not. Some cars come out bare bones and some come with all the bells and whistles. In my F-body, there are different trims and 3 different motors for that vehicle. So would you pay the same price for a 350 as you would a 3L engine? I think not.
