Default deck protector

Does anyone know where you can buy a clear deck protector for a 1996 convertible? I don't like the static cling protectors on the market. Would like the adhesive one like comes from the factory
Thanks, Todd

These are almost impossible to find. Post up in the Parts for Sale/Wanted section of the C4 Forum.
Back around the early 2000s some folks purchased a roll of thick clear plastic from a fabric store and used that. Of course it is a cling style too but at least it wasn't yellowed/dirty/chewed up looking like the originals tend to become.

Default thanks.

I may just buy a roll of stone guard and use the static cling I now have on it as a pattern

Took mine off for a re-paint and could only find the static cling type. First time with the top down, off it went!! Just wax the crap out of the deck and you will be fine.

I think I'd just have the whole panel covered in one of the new clear paint protection films like Xpel, 3m, suntek. This way you won't notice the strip.

If you don't want the whole panel a shop could easily do the strip but it will likely cost more than just doing the whole panel. The film can be found online for sale if you want to do it yourself.

It seems to me that one of the decal suppliers like Phoenix Graphix or Stencils and Stripes should be able to offer the proper vinyl strip. I don't know if they currently do this but it seems like it would be good business for them. It isn't that much different than making a hood bird for a 2nd Gen TransAm.

I had this done. Covered the whole panel. Looks great; you can't even tell it's there.

Personally, I wouldn't perform a DIY on this project. I was at the SEMA show last year and saw the films up close and personal. There were competitions going on between pro teams for custom wrap and films. There is a level of craftsmanship to it. I would probably do it if I had practiced on a few first. I got involved a little more by participating in a vendor "try it yourself" demonstration. I got to put a piece on with my own hands. Of course, a few hundred people are observing as well. So I can say it's doable but the shops usually do it better. There are quite a few very good shops in the PHX area.

Good luck,

WEK.
