Default 86 vette

i am a novice on corvette's. i removed the pan inside the storage compartment on the drivers side and found what looks like a pump with metal lines coming into it. also a silver rectangular box with a connector and a lot of wires. any ideas what i am looking at? i saw these when i was trying to get a new stereo to work.

If it is like my '88, this is where the Bosch ABS brake system is based. Apparently, GM did not have an ABS ready at this point or for whatever reason, went with a Bosch system.

Each speaker has its own amp.
The Forum has an audio section. Ask your questions there. Also learn to use the search feature here as posts and threads from the past will answer most of your questions. Look over the stickies too.

This shows the amp on the rear speakers from when I swapped them out for kicker speakers in my 86.

http://crowz.narmir.com/vehicles/198...peakers-coupe/

Its almost at the bottom of the page as thumbnails. Just click them to see a full size of the amps.

The swap out I did should give you an idea of how to get around the factory amps too.

Tnvette, don't get upset. Ron only said what he did because there are indeed certain questions which come up over and over on the forum and the Search really is everyone's friend. All the info you need is here already.

1. In the upper RH corner of the discussion box click on the link to "search this forum"
2. Click on the "Advanced Search" option
3. Enter your "search info" in the Keywords field and select "Search titles only"
4. Select C4 Corvettes 1984-1996 and check the box for "Also search in child forums"
5. Then click "Search Now"

This C4 forum is filled with information and everyone would be amazed at the volumes of data if they just learned to search and read first before waiting for someone to answer to yet another new thread on a subject that has been covered over and over.
