overheating

Everything you need to know
(I got the idea from an expensive thermostat years ago, it had a little check valve)
just a tip to help when your putting it all back together, very common for that little pocket to cause an overheat right after a service.
The other trick is to just remove the thermostat while your filling to confirm it gets to the intake. from there it's easy top off as it gets warm.

and I have had, strange as it may seem, new name brand thermos stats that were defective.
jack front passenger side highest. i actually just park diagonal on a steep driveway now. easier.
with my passenger front corner higher up, here is what i do:
fill overflow container to half way between cold and hot markings.
fill rad.
keep cap off.
start car.
keep the coolant topped up. at about 80deg C,
suddenly there is going to be a drop in the coolant level. you will also see the "waterfalling" occur. this is because the thermostat, which acts like a dam in a river, just opened its doors and allowed the water to flow in a circut. but, be careful, u dont want to dilly dally with the cap off.
keep it topped off and once its steadily full at idle, now reach over with your left hand and get rpms up using your fingers to move the throttle body. you will see the coolant get sucked in/down: the fluid level will drop, as the engine is revving high, say 2000rpm, pour in more coolant.
with rpm still high, set down the cookant bottle and put the cap on the rad. then u can stop revving.
now shut off the car, and let it cool. check thr overflow reservoir.
