Recently bought a 96, and figured my Son could drive it to work occasionally, but he is 6-3, about 210 lbs with 13" shoes, and really can't drive it at all. Had a 76 when he was in high school, and he drove that, even tho he was a big boy then.
Anyone other than "little people" (PC for midget) drive these things. Maybe someone has done different seat arrangement, or customized the area down around the pedals.
Haven't looked inside a C5, but guess anything post 84 is "fall in-climb out" ?????
6'2 180 and fairly lean. No issues on the factory seats other than the belts never being tight enough when I had the seat back far enough for me. Even with the fixed race seats I don't have any issues now, though admittedly it was a bitch to get enough of a recline and get them low enough to fit in with a helmet on.
6'3" & 275, it's no picnic getting in and out but once in it fits like a glove. I wear a 12W shoe and some of my footwear, like my work boots, are hard to drive with but with T-shoes or such there's no problem.
Let you kid drive it for a while, he'll learn how to use the pedals and before long the cramped feeling will go away.
I don't think he's trying too hard. I'm 6'2" and 240 and I have no problem except getting out if the door can't be opened all the way for some reason. I'm 68 with bad knees. I don't know why he doesn't want to drive it, but I'd ask.
Because the frame rail is so high, the C4's are the tumble in and climb out specials unless you are not so tall and in good condition. I fall into the "tumbler" class a buddy who's 5'7" and 160 just hops in and out like no biggie.(It makes me sick) If you are a big or a "chick in a skirt" there is no graceful way to get in and out. I have manual seats and I seem to sit lower than the power models. Seat belts keep me from head butting roof over bumps. Glass top gives you and extra 1/2 inch or so of headroom. As the base Corvettes went from being sports cars to "Status" cars the ride got softer and the interior got a little bigger. Pro football players can get in and out of the C5 and later models.
6' and 240 here with a 13 shoe size. I can see using work boots being a PIA trying to drive, but unless he is a triple E width, it shouldn't be a problem. One option is to get some race sneakers, wrestling shoes, or Converse. Fun times!

I'm 6'3 210lbs and 13 shoes. 29Yrs old. I have to wear certain shoes but mine is a 6 speed. If I wear boots I cant clutch without hitting the brake pedal. Drove the bitch 960 miles 2 weekends ago lol.
6'3 driving the C1-4 were real cramped, headroom forget it
Head made friends with the top and had to take the sun visor off to see green lights
If you drove it a lot you could get used to it but step away for some time then hop in it kinda sucked.
These were designed for shorter drivers
Try wearing a helmet forget it.
Cutting the foam down can help a little bit
