I have owned this car for 12 years and put my heart and soul and wallet towards it looking and running great. Today was just perfect in N. Ga. with the top out, AFSB bolted in, and all systems go as I idled over the shopping center speed bumps.
On my left is a little Ninja, Bruce Lee look-alike in a Judo Ghi when he was 9 standing next to mom's car just smiling and waving hard. I slowed more and waved as enthusiastically as I remembered how to. He grinned bigger and grabbed his mom to show her the coolest red car on planet earth.... to him.
The rewards are sometimes surprising and simple. It's my best wave yet..
Yeah, it's funny that as the C4's get older (at least in my neck of the woods) they are not quite a common as they once were. I'm definitely seeing younger kids and teenagers giving me the thumbs up more then when I first bought her in the 90's!!! I've even had some people ask me if this was a new model...LOL
Great wave. It is some of the unexpected ones that I like the most.
My best was when we and a couple friends (3 Corvettes traveling together) went past a policeman who had a Mustang pulled over and writing a ticket. He made a point of stepping away from the Mustang and waving to each of us. I enjoyed that.
Not that I am looking for it, or expect it, but I get more looks, waves and nice comments about my "85" now than I ever got over the years I've owned it. I'm pretty sure that keeping it in such nice shape and always immaculate has something to do with it. Or is it the chambered muffler deletes that draw the admiring attention?
2nd time out with my new to me 85 and some guy next to me started honking his horn, I looked over and he had the biggest “thumbs up” I ever seen … lol. Best part was I just picked it up from the shop after having some work performed and this really made my day.

tlong...my wife & I went out for a ride one night last week to get an ice cream. Pulled into the stand between 2 jacked-up pickups on big rims, noticed a group of 6 kids sitting around a table with bad attitudes. As I climbed out, one of the kids said "nice car, sure sounds good". Thanks, I told him. Made me feel good to think that some trucksters could still appreciate the sound & looks of my 88 anniversary model.
