Hatch struts....
I bought new hatch struts in 08 for my Z, and now they seem to stick and hold part way until I try to lift up on the hatch glass. Then they pop loose, lifting the hatch for a couple inches and stick again.
It seems that maybe the internal seals are dry or something. Any "fix" to them or do I just replace them again...

I would try clean the rods with 0000 steel wool and put silicone on a rag and wipe them down.

I believe the #0000 is more critical for a lasting fix than the choice of the "lube". Painters hate silicone, if you're visiting a shop soon or do occasionally maybe the silicone isn't a first choice. If NOT then maybe the "first". The suggested "rag application" I'd say preferred.
