Was thinking about putting a set of long tube hedmen headers on my 87, but I know this requires a few modifications like the o2 sensor hole and weld etc. Etc. So I was thinking of something like these http://m.ebay.com/itm/Maximizer-Exhaust-Manifold-Header-85-91-Chevy-Corvette-C4-L98-with-Y-pipe-/162046005922?nav=WATCHING_ACTIVE
What do you guys think? Eliminates me having to do the extra work, but I'm wondering will the hp gains be worth it?

Many years ago when I got LT headers on my 88 It made a noticeable difference in power. I drag raced before and after getting them and the headers with no other changes made a 0.2 of a second difference on the quarter mile.
They also made my car a little bit louder than with the stock manifolds.
Even though it appears to be bolt-in, you will still have to do some mods. The lower alternator brace will have to be modded to support the alternator. The A/C bracket where it attaches to the forward manifold bolt will need some changing. You will need to build a bracket to hold the oil dipstick tube.
The original GM starter will be a royal PIT to get back into place; it's the old style starter that is much larger than the later Hitachi-style starters found in the 89 and later C4's. You will need some insulation near the fuel lines and near the wiring behind the starter.
The pic of the header system shows it has the AIR fittings. Do you need them for emissions in your state? If not, consider getting a version without the fittings. You can remove the AIR pump and all of the hoses and tubes and that cleans up the engine compartment.
Just my .02, I would be concerned about quality of the pipe, and fit and finish. I put Hedman Elites on my old 87 and it was a pretty easy install. I had a shop install true duals, an X-pipe, and DynoMax Ultraflo mufflers and the total cost was just over $700. I had to do the mods and the O2 bung but it wasn't that hard. I also bought a Summit Racing mini-starter which was a plug and play fit and it installed with the headers bolted in place.
Thank you guys! C4cruiser you raised another question in my head too, will this type of setup require me to go catless? I'm not too sure, I think I will need to do some cat work soon anyway as I believe the originals are on the car with 108k miles, maybe I'll do some high flow cats, however with this setup I'm not sure. I will definitely look into the hedmen elites thank you
I'm thinking I want to do headers eliminate the first two precats, and just go to one main cat in the back.. the header setup is probably better suited for that and will save $. The obx setup looks like it only has two precats if I see that correctly
They look like universal cats to me. Magnaflow has a ceramic cat that looks like that. I used the Magnaflow units on an LS1 swap, passed the sniffer with no problem. No idea what OBX is really using there, though. I'm guessing California wouldn't be very happy with them.
