Invisible in a C4
This couple in a Toyota did an abrupt, signal free lane change yesterday that forced us to brake and swerve into oncoming lanes. When I caught up to the driver, he offered a "sorry, I didn't see you." Wow. Really?
My car is Torch Red. It is physically BIGGER than their import.
What do you say to that?
I love my C4, but as a daily driver it is becoming an exercise in terror.

And it's not the car I have the same problem in my black Colorado which is hard to not see...stupid drivers will always exist.

The reason I feel invisible is that this comes barely three weeks after a woman in a Honda hit me on the driver's side in a similar move. Skid marks from the battery cover all the way back. Crushed the side mirror. I'm still dealing with that mess. BuhBy perfect CarFax.
I was flabbergasted at his lame response. All I could think to say was it is your job to see me, sorry doesn't make it, and I painted it the brightest color I could find. Might have been an expletive or two in there as well.

They can be hard to see as they sit so low Id believe they may not have seen you even if they looked quick. Had more than one almost back up over me. Leave room be aware and proactive

These cars do sit low, so it's usually a short person in a truck, suv, or van that run me off the road. No big deal, that's what your middle finger is for.

Lol I feel your pain guys, but maybe he wasn't an idiot maybe he just made a mistake.. after all we are all human. Thankfully the mistake didn't turn into any actual damage.

Yup! At least he didn't flip you the bird. Its a rare thing when somebody admits to their mistake. Kudos to him for admitting it and kudos to you for accepting it for what it was - a mistake!

the acknowledgement. is "KEY" they understood. typically feel VERY sorry!! What really may push to a road rage. is the oblivious SCUM. that flips you off. or MUCH worse. blaming "you" as if they "own" the road!! rules DO NOT apply to them!!!!

It's hard to be easily consoled in the moment, but I could've definitely been more open to his apology. Except maybe I'm old enough to think that was the least he could do.
His behavior is to be commended because he did the all too rare right thing. Wasn't that a George Carlin bit? "Well, at least he went like that (gestures 'sorry')."

And he apologized. And if you think you are invisible in a C4, try on a motorcycle. You don't exist. After decades of riding, I have become a very defensive driver - especially since I am in North Jersey. Driving here seems to have mutated into a contact sport. I have been able to avoid probably over a hundred accidents over the last few years except I've been rear ended 3 times in the last 10 years. Twice at red lights and once on a rainy night in traffic on the Parkway. Two were caused because the idiots could not get off their cell phones and pay attention. The third guy was just a moron. Fortunately none of those were in the Corvette. I have really come to hate seeing idiots with their cell phone glued to their ear driving a car or SUV.
Glad nothing happened to you whether an accident or road rage wise.

Funny because I have the complete opposite feel. When I drive the C4 compared to my Lotus, I feel like I don't have to fear for my life every time I drive! My lotus is bright yellow but because it is so low (even lower than C4), sedans almost never see me in their blindspots (forget about the SUVs/trucks). But I have noticed that most of the time it's not just them not seeing you (or make good effort to check their blind spots) but also distractions (passengers in car, phone, etc).

I had a similar incident on the highway in my 2002 Camaro, but it ended much differently. Lady in an Audi clipped the drivers side rear quarter panel and sent me across three lanes of traffic and into the center median (with the rear end) then back across all three lanes and head-on into the median on the shoulder. Her statement to the Police was "I don't know what happened. I heard a noise and stopped here."
Totaled the car. When I got the police report back it turns out she was on drugs! Used the money from the settlement to buy a 2001 Mercedes SLK 230.

The bikers here in Jersey use drag pipes that command attention with their loud staccato crack. On the Parkway at 65 mph you can hear them coming from several cars back. Perhaps it would be appropriate to install the same on your Vette. The bulls don't seem to object.

Good thing you don't drive in Russia, Check out some of those you tube videos on crazy Russian drivers.
This one has a bike (scooter) at like around :38 in and shows what a drive not paying attention can do. (No one was hurt).
Enjoy
