Default Spider Webbing
My 85 has spider webbing above the left rear wheel well. The area is about 6" long and 3" wide. This webbing was present when I bought the car 5 years ago and has not grown.
What causes this, how common is it and is there cause for concern?

As others have said, without pics it is hard to help. But if it is a series of small lines emanating from a point, it is likely the car suffered a good bump at that point that was not quite hard enough to fracture the panel but was hard enough to fracture the paint.
