Default C4 L98 Code 13

Dear Corvetteans:

Owning a c4 L98 was my dream as far as I can remember. I finally bought one last week but I started having these issues. Any opinions about it will be greatly appreciated.

When I was driving back home from the dealership, I could smell gasoline from inside and out. I sent it back to the dealership and they managed to fix so which I'm not fully certain of. The next day in the morning the car started to show "Engine Service Soon," and found out with a piece of paper clip that it was sending code 13 which is oxygen sensor circuit loop. I wonder if replacing the oxygen sensor will fix all these issues below.

Firstly, The starter isn't responding at all within 10 minutes or so after I turn off the engine while the engine light comes on.

Secondly, I hear some dripping liquid sound around the exhaust pipe after I turn off the engine. I still smell gasoline from the pipe but there is no leaks on the ground of any types of liquid.

Thirdly, my accelerator performance is rapidly dropping and I get to hear rough engine sound on and off.

Lastly, the fuel level isn't really accurate, and the gas is burning up really rapidly at some point.

Please help me out with these issues. I don't have any repair shops that can reliably fix my vintage car.

Thank you.

No, O2 sensor may fix code 13 only. Numbers 2 and #3 may have caused O2 sensor to fail.

I'd be driving it back to the dealership

Sounds like you might have two problems but I would change the o2 first and see. The extra fuel might just be over heating your starter. The dealer should do this for you.

Thank you.

I replaced the sensor yesterday but the service engine light still persists.

I have no issues with the performance of the car, other than that I can't start off the engine right after I turn it off( I have to wait around 10 to 20 minutes to get it started. There is no cranking sound when the engine doesn't start off but only a clicking sound).

My average miles are around 11 to 13 which are considerably low.

I have no idea what the issues are. Any opinions?

Thank you.

Lets try this. Find the wire to the solenoid on top of the battery and put an idiot light there. When it happens, crank again and see if it gets power. If it does, take the starter out and have it disassembled by a reliable starter rebuilder. Could be it is old and or has oil contamination and is more vulnerable to heat soak,.
