This seems like such a simple issue, and believe it or not, the Owner's Manual is incorrect in this case. I need to know how to put the convertible top down. There is a cable release somewhere that I cannot locate. The car is a 1995 Pace Car Convertible (4000 original miles). I have a 94 Coupe and it is different, it IS like the owner's manual says. The manual specifies that the release lever is "in compartment behind the driver's seat". My 94 has compartments behind both seats but the 95 only has one compartment, behind the passenger seat. The 95 has no compartment behind driver's seat, no lever ANYWHERE.... I have been under and over and in between, and simply cannot locate the release lever. The convertible top is locked in position and there does not seem to be a way to release it.

There is a lever directly behind the driver seat. Underneath the door/hatch covering the roof compartment. Look behind drivers seat and up.
Behind the driver seat and under the deck lid there is a small black handle. The handle is bust big enough to get two fingers on.
First you will want to roll down both windows.
Next you will want to undo the velcro strips located on the B pillars on both the passenger and driver sides.
Now you will want to fold down both sun visors and rotate the top handles towards the rear of the car. This will unlatch the top from the windshield header.
With your left hand, pull the little handle behind the driver seat toward the front of the car until you hear a pop AND see the rear of the soft top pop up off the deck lid.
Let go of the handle and with your left hand again lift the rear of the fabric top up and off of the deck lid and towards the front of the car.
Now, with your right hand, grab the just under the deck lid and look for the yellow "deck lid release" button. This button will activate the electric solenoids that unlock the deck lid from the body. Slowly guide the deck lid up towards the rear of the car. It should be capable of springing up by itself and remaining open by itself.
With your left hand gently lower the rear of the soft top back down and then shift your left hand to the front or leading edge of the top and with your right hand gently guide the rear of the top into the rear well. Do not attempt to help fold the top. The top should fold itself.
Once the top is in the well, fold the header latches inboard to the latched positions. If you do not do this the deck lid may not close. If it does close, it may not open again.
Close the deck lid and ensure it latches on both sides.
Move the sun visors back to a position that is suitable for driving.
If you are referring to me in your comment then the answer is yes. I have written a few tech documents in my lifetime.
Yes kg4fku that was directed towards you. Nice write up and your writing skills shine through. I have a couple areas in the FSM that could use your interpretation.

Thanks for the compliment. I have had many years of practice and every once in a while it shows. Most other times ... well... anyway.
