Some previous owner must have misplaced the damn thing. It's not under the rear cargo lids, not in the center console, I even checked the top of the fuel tank. Is there any way to reprint these RPO stickers? I was doing a little research and read about RPO and SPID and build sheets and what not but I'm not entirely sure what I need. It's the little square sticker that has a sequence of three numbers/letters all over the sheet. The codes tell you options. Is that RPO or SPID or are they the same thing? And where I might be able to order a new sheet using my VIN?
Spid label is how car was actually built. It would be similar to a build sheet which can be anywhere in the car. Since its an 87 I doubt dealer can help you,but you could contact dealer parts dept with VIN and see. NCM can provide build information
A dealer should be able to print an RPO sheet from your VIN #. I got one for my 96 from a local Chevy Dealer.
That's the first place I called and I got a blatant no. Not that they no longer do that or anything just a no, have a good day. minus the have a good day. At the corvette museum online I can get a build sheet for 45 bucks which is worth it. I'm just not sure if that's what I need.
Wow, I'd check that jacka$$ of my list of dealers to do business with. Maybe see if one of the Forum Corvette dealers will help out. You should be able to find information in the treads here.

The OP has an '87 - try your source - see how you do there!!
While the SPID decal has a GM pat number, it would be next to impossible to get each RPO code that would have been listed on that sticker. The decal has codes that aren't really hard componnents that were installed on the car.
The build sheet that can be ordered from the NCM is a copy of what went down the assembly line with the car. The plant workers referred to that sheet to get and install specific components, some of which did not have an RPO code. The build sheet will have RPO codes that show standard equipment along with any optional equipment that was ordered.
The build sheet will have the name of the ordering dealer, vehicle GAWR weights (front and rear), shipping weights, shipping cost, and date and time that show when the car was entered into the production schedule.
It's worth the money to order both the window sticker and the build sheet from the NCM. TIP: Join the NCM first, then order the documents so you can get the member discount. And your NCM membership fee is 100% tax deductible.
Dealerships can't provide that info for all years... I think just for 89 and newer. It's a limitation of the database, from what I was told. I tried to get codes for a 1984 recently and they could not help me. Ordering the build sheet and window sticker were the only ways I had to verify what I was looking for.
I will certainly look into a build sheet then. My VIN is 1G1YY2188H5128179. I'll remember to become a member before I purchase the sheet through the museum. Thank you guys for the excellent info!
So I went to one of my favorite Chevrolet dealers and asked them to look up your VIN, which they did. The parts guy said your VIN was not in the system so he could not get the RPO codes for it. The parts manager came out to help and confirmed your VIN was indeed not in the system. He said the only place that for sure would have it was the NCM. You will have to contact them and pony up the fee to get a build sheet.
It would have saved you a lot of time if your local dealer/parts department had offered an explanation rather than just telling you NO.

You and I seem to have "relationships" with appropriate personnel. You and I don't know what the conversation the OP actually had with the dealership personnel, you sometimes only get out of a conversation what you input or volunteer. I shop several dealers in the area of all major manufacturers and most do very well in conversations.
I suspect the OP "called" blindly and didn't "walk-in" - dealers get I'm sure several of this type a call daily! The OP only posted his side of the story. I'm sure there's a "Paul Harvey" ... "the rest of the story"!!
Yes, I like to walk in and talk to the person face to face. I've been here in the valley since 1957 so I have spent a lot of time in dealer parts departments. Beside, it gave me a reason to drive the Corvette today.
