Default What's missing game?

A part on the 87 I just got has a piece missing from the dash. It's right below and to the right of the ignition. There's 3 holes there but nothing attached?? I'm working on sending a pic.
Here we go.

I'm not to sure about the 3 holes but there's a "key protector" missing from some/many.

You added the snapshot while I was posting. That's what you need.

Here's my 87. There is some sort of plate held on with a single screw. That's probably the key protector that the post above mine is talking about. Maybe there was something that was an option that I don't have or maybe the previous owner of your car had something there.

The other two are just locators to position the part I believe. Haven't had one "in hand" for years. Yours actually has an incorrect fastener.

Why do you say that when it looks exactly like the one you posted? Besides, I've have the car since it was 1 1/2 years old and I know the previous owner did "nothing" to the car in the time he had it, not even change the oil. He had a standing order for a new Vette every two years and it was just sitting on the side of his house waiting for the spring to sell it. That's how it originally came from the factory, I'm sure and I've never touched it ..never even knew it was there until this thread came up.

Click on the link where the picture is from WVZR-1 and it will take you to the ebay action where it's being sold.

Actually, here's the same one from the same seller and it's a lot cheaper but without the screw.

Yours appears to either have a "washer face" OR has maybe a "free spinning" counter-sunk washer which looks to not let the screw go "flush" with the protector. Maybe it's just the snapshot but the screw in yours doesn't appear to be flush with the protector. He!! maybe it's the way it was.

Yours also looks like maybe it had a "added film" to it that was popular for the times. Maybe - maybe NOT. You're happy so that's the "what matters".

**We had a lady in town that bought every three years and there were more people beating her door down at 2 years 6 months than you can imagine. She generally was quite aggravated and traded. Aggravation wasn't worth it she mentioned once.

The screw is the same one that is all around the dash, center console and the console around the shifter. The guy who owned mine didn't like the trade-in value that the dealer offered when his new one came in so he had put it aside the house waiting for the spring weather (Maryland) as he was told Vettes sell better in the warm weather and he could maybe pick up a little more for it. I could hardly tell what color it was because of the dirt but he let me have it checked out and the only thing that didn't work with the radio antenna. I offered a bit more than the dealer and had it ever since.
