What a rush! Ran 3 laps on the Indy track this weekend. I feel like my new (to me) C4 has a bit of heritage. This was definitely the high point of the 2016 Bloomington Gold.
That's a bit better than last year, doing 40 mph around Indy is almost an insult. However, to be fair to BG and the track itself, I can understand why, last year when we got out on the track the JO behind me started "scrubbing" his tires like he was he going for the pole. Then as we were coming around turn 4 before coming back in this idiot pulled up along side of me wanting to talk! It kinda went downhill from there.
When we lined up I spotted a matt black C7 out front that had a cam idle like a pro stock. Definitely had some serious power. When we got on the track he dropped back til the straightaway was clear and nailed it. The sweet smell of race fuel was in the air!!! Everyone else, including myself, took his lead and dropped back and went for speed. The pace cars were front and rear but not much they could do. We ran 2 full laps like that. Half way down the back straight I downshifted to second and ran it up to 100 before curve 3 and my old, stock, untest brakes came into my mind. As I said, the C5 in front of me said he saw 145. We stayed to watch others on the track later but they had cut the track time to only 1 lap and held the speed to under 60. Boring. My only regret is that I didn't snap a pic of the dash, but then I had something of a death grip on the wheel. What a thrill! Got the pictures of my car going over the finish line! That one goes on the wall. Next up will be to run on the Milwaukee Mile here in town.
It is awesome just being on the track. Last year we were able to get up to speed. This year the pace car in my group did 15mph for the first half lap We were only able to get up to 60, but it's still an experience

Yep, that's just one of the reasons I stayed home this year. 15 mph is simply a stupid thing to do. I broke an 11 year string by not going.
