My AIR pump seems to be out o whack and may be the reason my alternator puked. Is the "reduce drag add 20 hp :jester " thing legal to run on a street car since it replaces the AIR pump?
You will free up a couple of HP lost from parasitic drag, but nothing that you will feel in the least. It is illegel for on-road use, but I have yet to have an inspection station even notice it there. The best thing about this is that it cleans up the engine bay a lot and makes timing the engine SO much easier to do as you have a much better view of the balancer. It isn't worht $160, not at all. I bought mine used for much less.
Hey Scorp-a while ago you posted some pictures of all the crap that was removed when you did the air elim. unit----can you please repost them thanks
jimbo :jester
Pull and disassemble the pump. Use a hammer & chisel to break off all of the plastic vanes. Reassemble so it free-wheels. It will pass the visual, and no one will be the wiser.
