35th anniversary identity
I recently acquired what is supposed to be a 35th anniversary Corvette. Unfortunately, the car had been stripped of the seats and center console. I was wondering if the car can be identified as a true 35th by the Vin# or with out the trim sticker, is it just a white 1988 Corvette coupe. Thanks in advance for any info.

The wheels would be white, the outside badges would be there. I think B2B is the interior code or that car and it might be on the rpo code sheet on the center console?

The VIN doesn't have any code that points to a car being a 35th Anniversary car. The exterior halo bar will be painted black. Also the 35th cars will have white door handles.

You might want to go to the National Corvette Museum website and order the build sheet and window sticker. Go here to order them. If you join the NCM first, you can then get the member discount for the documents. The NCM dues are fully deductible on your income taxes as a charitable contribution

I would think that if it's actually a 35th there would be enough "remnants" to ID it as such. Moldings, halo and door handles I'd think would have survived - if NONE of those then likely NOT.
You might post the VIN and check it against the 35th registry to see if it had ever been listed as such there.

Not sure if many folks would swap out a white steering wheel or seat belts. If they're not white you may not have a 35th car.
Here's two pics of my 35th. Pretty much original and stock except for a Borla cat back and a K&N air filter.

Looks like it may be one to me. Those emblems are spendy to replace. The steering wheel d leave black as I cannot imagine the white one holding up well but that's me.

I also had a 35th at one time, #1864 if I remember correctly. Yours is most probably a real 35th from the pics you have posted. The steering wheel and it looks like the wheels were changed out for whatever reason. And the white wheels used white wheel weights, I still have a bag full from GM.
As mentioned above, the white door handles and the white steering wheel were part of the option. Also the white "Tuned Port Injection" divider, and the fact that you have 3 holes in the lower part of the hood, (which had the 35th Anniv Emblem" attached to the hood") indicates that you have a real 35th Anniv.
Congrats on your purchase, take your time to get it right, they are fun to drive.......Tom

If you can even find them. I've found one for sale and the price was over $200.
I've got car #1405. It puts a smile on my face each time I drive it.

The white trim and the holes for the 35th Anniversary emblem say it 100%. Try finding it for sale. This is one hard car to restore. The cost would be thousands of dollars and that's if you can find the parts at all used or new. I see wheels once a year or so and steering wheels new or reconditioned which is easy enough if that's your business to recover steering wheels. The trim would be one of my main concerns. Door panels might be tough too I don't know for sure? I would run from this car. There are so many better cars to spend money on. If you find a cherry one then GREAT. I even read that this was considered one of the ugliest Corvette's of all time. Guy was on drugs who said that.
