My cargo shade keeps retracting while I'm driving. This is my first corvette and I was wondering if there is supposed to be a rubber or plastic cap/fitting on either end of the shade rod to help hold it in the little notch on each side? If anyone has a solution for the shade rolling up I'd be interested in hearing it. Thanks.

Hey Mike...mine does the same thing and after examining alittle closer I see the retaining clip on the right side is cracked and when I hit a small bump the shade comes out of the retainer and retracts. You may have a similar problem. Got to replace both mine.
I see you have an '86. It's always a good idea to identify your car when you start a new post. They changed the design of this clip in later cars.
I had a similar problem with my '84, and decided the clips that are supposed to hold the pin at the end of the shade were allowing the pin to slip out from under the bottom of the clip. I fixed them with a small right-angle bracket that fits under the clip, that is held in place with the clip mounting screws.

Roy,
My bad, probably better for me to throw the year of my car out there instead of making people look for it. Thanks for the help
CC use to sell replacement clips that were bigger and holds the shade better then the original design
I purchased the new and improved shade holder clips last year for my 88 and the shade holder part is mounted higher than the stock clips which makes it easier to mount and un-mount the shade by yourself. I forgot the price but worth it.

That was one of the first things I bought for my 94 when I bought it nine years ago. Wasent sure if they still sold them or not. I know the originals clips never worked for me. The new ones did though.
