Default Need Help

So I was driving my 86 vette a while back and all of a sudden everything shut down and some either smoke or steam rolled through the dash. Not sure what happened. We checked the engine and it still turns over. All fuses are not blown. Need help ASAP. Missing the vette.

Have you checked the ECM codes?

UPDATE:
Odd, don't know why the preview is a vampire. Link works correctly, preview not.

Try
directly. Ugh, all youtube links get changed to embedded?

Was there any odor to smoke? Does everything still other than no start?

In addition to fuses, have you checked the fusible links?

I would check condition of wiring under left side of dash and if there is voltage to ignition switch. Switch is mounted to top of column near the bottom. 2 connector plug into side. Burn't wiring is trouble because it as wires melt there can be multiple shorts. You could do some partial disassembly ( remove dash pad, radio, ac control...etc) of dash looking for signs. If you find a large amount or lengths of melted wire I would start looking for new" to me" dash harness. Check fusible links and under hood fuses may help locate original circuit that overheated. Use a fused jumper to connect burn't fusible link in case short is present. What you don't want is a fire be you reconnected shorted circuit(s) You will want/need FSM to solve this problem.
