I am looking at possibly buying a 89 L98 corvette motor to put into a 65 chevy pickup and have some questions since I do not know much about them.

The "Chevy TPI Fuel injection Swapper's Guide" lists the 89 L98 motor as
having roller lifters but not roller rockers which matches what this motor has.

A friend of mine who claims to have some knowledge says that it should also have roller rockers. I have read some of the archive posts where it appears some of you were installing roller rockers for the first time in a
89 L98 motor so it appears to me that the correct statement is that the motor would not come from the factory with roller rockers.

Also, would this motor have a gear reduction starter or a conventional
style starter.

Just want to be sure this motor is being represented correctly!

The only c4 engine to have roller rockers from the factory was the LT4 motor in 1996. No TPI motors had roller rockers as standard equipment from the factory.

Yes on the starter. It's a mini starter. 89 and newer have these starters.

As a tag on to this thread...what sort of HP gains could one expect from going to roller tip rockers or full roller rockers on the standard L98 engine?

(eg: my '91 coupe)
