Hi, recently purchased a 1994 vette. It is my first vette and love to drive it. The car is in great condition, needing a little fit and finish for its age.
There is one issue I'm faced with and would greatly appreciate any help trying to figure out what is going on.
It is an automatic trans, coupe with 67,000 miles. After driving the car for a little while it has a very hard clunk going into fourth gear. It is not always there and sometimes it is loud while at other times it is very subtle. There is no mechanical noise that I can hear at any time while driving, only the clunk and not all the time.
I know nothing about the history of this car. Would love any help in what direction I should head in trying to figure this out.
I'm a new member to the forum, not sure if I am posting this correctly.
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase. The first thing I would check is the u joints, especially if the noise is louder at light loads.
Might consider the simple too, check the trasmission fluid level and condition.
Thanks, have checked fluids and all appear to be ok. levels are right and no burned smell from trans. Will double check though, Don't know if fluids were changed before I purchased or not.
