Corvette for first car thoughts?
The C4 is an inherently reliable car, and cheap to maintain even compared to some of the newer "cheap" cars (look up cost of timing belt service on a Civic).

First thing. Any car thats a first car is going to get banged up a little. Rim scrapes, too fast over bumps even unintentionally etc. Strongly recommend you let your son practice (running errands, typical driving) in another car before he drives the C4 full time. Maybe split the time driving btwn 2 cars for a couple months
Second. Traction control = always ON. This saved my *** more than a couple times. Remind him that as soon as the tires spin control slips away at light speed.
Third. Like everyone says he sounds like a good kid but pay attention to see if he's starting to like/enjoy/love adrenaline rushes. He does not now but it could change w/ peer pressure or any external influences. Both myself and one of my best friends were super clean cut kids in high school, good grades, college bound, the works but once we got fast cars.. friends, movies and the feel of speed sparked an adrenaline need. If I wouldn't have got some expensive tickets I would have kept it up much longer.
Last thing, this sounds kind of harsh but it really works. Show him video of bad crashes on Youtube and/or stories of ppl you knew that were in accidents. Dont need blood and gore but bad serious crashes. As a young kid especially in today's world, you are constantly reminded of all the great, fun things in life (social media) but being reminded of the grim helps you re-focus.
He's gonna be fine. You don't seem like the dad who doesnt know what's going on in their kids world so he's gonna be fine
BTW I drive like a gpa now lol Been there done that. Coolest gpa driver out there tho
haha
