Default Exhaust(iing) question

Yes I've searched and researched and at the end of the day I should just get the Corsa for my '96. I could do a cheaper catback or axle back or replace the mufflers, but the theme I've picked up is "learn from my mistakes and just buy the Corsa"

No rush to do it, but it needs to be done (a vette shouldn't sound like a Prius )

Couple of things:

what is this "RSC Techno;ogy" is it legit or a way to quiet the drone by robbing some HP?

Is it realistic to think I could find a used one?

Best place to buy a Corsa catback ($$, customer service, etc...)

TIA

You have a lot of options. Try to go to some events or car clubs, etc and listen to a few different ones. It will give you a lot better idea of what kind of sound they have. To me the online videos don't really sound like real life.

The cheapest option is to go with muffler eliminators. I have done this and it is quite loud. It has about the best sound I have heard when at idle, a nice deep rumble. When you give it gas, it gets very loud. Too loud for many. I actually liked the muffler elimnators.

The most expensive common system is the Corsa. I have them on my '95. It is very quiet inside the car, however my wife tells me that it is much louder outside. The RSC is Corsa's name for having a resonance chamber built into the muffler. The basic muffler is a straight through muffler that you can stick a broom handle through. The one pipe that is straight through flows most of the exhaust. The resonance chamber side flows very little and that is why many people comment that only one tip works. Both actually work, but one side does flow most of the gas. I don't think you lose hp with this system. It is basically a straight pipe so not much restriction. And I like the Corsa tips for appearance too.

For a cheaper system the OBX is a copy of the Corsa although some say they have had fit problems.

I have a Borla system on my '96. It is OK. The sound is a little deeper than stock but at least inside the car it is still pretty quiet, just a deeper sound. I enjoy the sound when working through the gears. I don't like the rectangular stainless can over the dual tips from the muffler. To me it looks cheap.

Most catback systems will not give you much power even though the sales ads tell you that you will get about 15 to 20 hp. Most of what you are buying is for the sound and the appearance.

There are some used systems around, but they are not very common, although I found my Corsa system used. In years of looking at ads, swap meets, etc I have only seen a couple.

There are a lot of systems to choose from.

Good luck with your choices.

I have the eliminators on my 95 convertible. Maybe because of the difference in the configuration of the back between convertible and coupe, it doesn't seem loud at all, and I don't really experience any drone. I think I paid 150$ for the eliminators and put them on myself. To me it's a perfect sound. And a lot less than these muffler systems. That's just my experience.
