AFSB Truss Bar Report
First thought's should have done this years ago!
My first ride was about 175 miles about 75 on the interstate and the other 100 on back roads with the bar and hatch vent in place. I've had my car about 15 years and only went topless about 5-8 miles when I first got it and vowed never to remove the top again.
I do have many miles in many C4's I have owned topless and they all acted the same I'm sure you who own them know the feeling
I 'm happy to report with the truss bar no more flex or hood shake in fact I think it felt even better than with the top in.
I drove on many varying surfaces from blacktop to concrete with seams, railroad crossings bad country roads speeds mostly from 35 to 80. If I never had to drive in rain I would not take it out, and yes I got a nice sun burn

I put mine in this weekend and only drove a little, but generally like it a lot. I do want to make a minor modification though as when I drive 40-45 MPH I hear a whistle from the open ends of the front tubing. Shouldn't be too hard to resolve.

They were just some old caps I found in the basement junk. I switched up when I found a few rubber computer case feet left over from some of my PC builds and cut them down.
Next project will be to find replacement hardware for the 4 silver bolts up front, I know you can't see them just want to find some black ones with a torx maybe tapered head.

They are the best supports I've ever seen/used for the C4 Corvette. As the poster said; The car rides better with the support than the factory top. I use mine every chance I can.
Enjoy the fun of driving your C4 Topless We Gone. Glad you also got one :-)

I just got my AFSB today, and I agree completely with the #1 post. I just bought my first Corvette about a month ago...a '96 Collector Edition LT1. I test drove enough others to know about how it feels with the top off. So when I saw the post on this forum about the truss bar, I ordered one. $475 shipped seemed a good price. Very nice workmanship. The adjustable mounting plates make it easy to get a really good fit, a great idea. Powder coating looks very good.
I drove it for about 4 hours today, a beautiful, sunny and warm, end of summer day here in Michigan.
The difference in the feel of the steering between with AFSB and without is amazing, feels like a different car. Yes, the car feels stiffer than with the regular top. I just regret getting this with the end of summer getting close.
This is the car the way the chassis engineers first designed it, as a T-top. It's too bad, way back in 1982, some executive wanted it to be a targa top.

I drove it about 20 miles on the highway into work today and I can hardly hear the noise the tubing makes on the highway and it was a very nice drive. I will still do the end caps like We Gone did above.
