Hi
I have a 1984 corvette with flowmaster 50 mufflers on it.
I'm looking at a good used magnaflow mufflers. How do they sound compared to my flowmasters. Only the mufflers
Should I get them or just leave the flowmasters.
thanks

The question is what are you going for? Louder, Quieter, deeper, etc etc. Truth be told unless you start removing pieces ie the muffler or the cat they all sound pretty close to one another on the 84. I currently have stock exhaust with a " turbo style" exhause like a magnaflow or flowmaster and cat delete. Sounds throaty but quiet enough to hear the radio with the top off. You can always get larger diameter pipe too. my 2 cents. Im sure someone else can help as well as there are good posts about mufflers where you can hear some of your options.
I have Magnaflows on my LT4 and I hate them. They don't sound too bad from outside idling in the driveway, but they drone like being inside a drum on the highway.

I have these on my 95 and it sold the car Sat to the first guy that drove the car. He loved the drone, it sounded to him like a 500 hp vette. I agree the drone could damage your eardrums so I always placed a ear plug in my left ear and it worked well for long trips. The polished magna flows are quality SS and never a dull appearance in 10 years.
