I got caught in a downpour the other day and had to use the windshield wipers. I now have a very small and barely noticeable scratch in the glass. The wipers are never used and I'm sure the wipers are orignal from 1989 and crusty so the wiper arm was dragged accoss the glass.
Any way to get this tiny scratch out of the glass? Otherwise the glass is pit and scratch free and worth saving.
I've been told to use Zaino Z12 it is a light abrasive that will polish most minor scratches out of glass :smash: I havent had the time to try it but im sure it works. :seeya
It will need to be polished out with a high speed glass poisher and rouge. If the scratch is deep enough its not removable. Unfortunately glasss polishing has a low success rate. I have the brussh scratches in my side glass and will likely replace it. :smash:
If the scratches in your windshield are as light as you describe, they may well respond to polishing. The general rule is that if you drag your finger nail across the area and the scratch "catches" your fingernail, it is to deep and will cause a distortion if polished that deeply. Almost all of the polishing compounds out there are cerium oxide or "jeweler's rouge".
Windshields are laminated annealled glass and are soft enough to polish. Side glasses, on the other hand, are tempered glass..... substantially harder than annealled glass, thus much more difficult to polish.
