Emergency Hood release, great buy and easy install. And more...
Just wanted to share my thoughts on the E-Hood release, I think it is the best short money you can spend on a C4. They are a great design, easy to install and cheap peace of mind. This is my second C4 I have installed them on and I although I have never had to use them I love having them. Also, I have received a lot of compliments at the Corvette Club.
But the cup holder inserts are a complete POS. They are flimsy rubber and TOO SMALL to fit a can of Coke in them. Not to mention they are folded and I can not straighten them. They are good in theory. But as the old saying goes "If it is good in theory and poor in practice then it is poor in theory".
Before I bring them to the rifle range dose anyone have an idea. I tried leaving a can of Coke in them to stretch and reshape. A week later the picture tells the story. I was also thinking of cutting them so only the bottom with a tiny lip is put into the holders, but again, if anyone has some experience, all thoughts are welcome.
Thanks
chris

If I can offer 2 cents worth of advice, you need to make a minor change. Either get the loop of the new cable under the clip of the hood release or add a wire tie onto the 2 cables so the new one does not slip over the lead end of the original cable. Under the right circumstances, the emergency cable can come off and be worthless.

What year is your 'vette? Reason I ask is the adjustable cable(s) on your hood release. My '96 has them, my wife's '95 does not.
I bought the emergency release tool because I didn't want anybody who happens by to be able to pop my hood.

Where did you purchase this? I recently bought a 1995 coupe and would like to have one just in case.

Fits great behind the drivers seat. Designed by Gordon Killebrew. http://www.gordonkillebrew.us
Assures that your battery doesn't take a walk while you're shopping.

Think I'd rather have the tool, I'm sure the tie wrap is hidden, but rather not give losers any further options to easily get under my hood.
On a different note, everyone should always inspect those clips whenever they have the hood open. It's easy to see why the can eventually break. I actually took a pair of pliers and clamped mine down a bit to ensure the cable didn't pop out.

My vette is an 1989. never really thought of someone popping my hood. but now that you mention it... They would need to know to look for them.

My local vette mech and friend advised me to make the wire ones and to drill holes so the hood latch would not hold water. Had some old wire fishing leader from my offshore days and build two of the right away. I tested them and work just fine.

I see the need for emergency releases. And applaud those that make these.
Replacing the hood release cables is the best way to avoid being locked out.
You will be surprised how much difference new cables will make.
