1987 Corvette "Madera"
I picked up another Corvette recently. It was such a great car, although being a automatic which I hate, I decided to get it anyway.
It is a 1987 Corvette "madera' model, (which I am having trouble chasing info down on the net about this upgrade package), with every option they had available at that time.
I have every piece of documentation, I have all the paperwork from the factory when the 1 owner bought it new, and it was in such great shape, that I decided that I would go ahead. I paid too much for it, but the overall vehicle was something when I first drove it.
The vehicle has only 20,158 miles on it. It was owned by a military man that was a pilot or something on a airforce base near me, (i dont know his occupation for sure). The vehicle is in almost perfect shape, runs' flawlessly, has the original wheels that came on it, plus the mags he had installed.
It came with all options available and with a very nice car cover that was an option he said as well. (never heard of that one before). but it's a nice cover that I keep it covered with.
Question..I didn't see a thread on here about it...so is there info on this forum so I can find some things out??? This Madera package is one I am not familiar with, so I need a bit of education
thanks so much

Do you have the original window sticker and the build sheet? The window sticker will show the base equipment, the base cost of the car and a list of the factory options and their individual costs. The Build Sheet is a document that follows the car down the assembly line to show the plant workers what is to be installed on the car.
If you don't have these documents, you can order reproductions from the National Corvette Museum. Go here to order them. I would suggest that you first become a member of the NCM, then order the docs. That way, you will be eligible for the member pricing discount. Your NCM membership is also fully tax deductible as a charitable contribution.
There was no car cover available as a factory ordered item either. Dealers would sell them thru the dealership parts desk or order one from the various Corvette accessory catalogs.
If you look under the center console lid, you will find a "Service Parts Identification label. It will have a number of 3-digit codes printed on it (called "RPO Codes". Some of these codes will identify a specific option or component installed on the car. At the bottom of that label will be codes for the paint color; there will be a code starting with "WA" that a body shop would use to match the factory paint color if the car should need repainting or damage repair.
