Eh, I suppose if you care about such things. I don't care much what others do with their stuff. This one has about 6 grand under the hood the guy is tired of putting money in it according to my buddy that knows about it so it sits outside at the performance shop to rot I guess. From what I understand the guy hasn't been around it a while.

My buddy bought a 1992 LT1 convertible on a whim about fifteen years ago and never really connected with it. He ended up letting it sit outside uncovered for many years until he just didn't care about it or want it anymore. He finally decided to buy a new car and wanted the old Corvette gone. As luck would have it - my son was having his 15th birthday and my friend decided to give him the car. It took us the entire weekend cleaning the dirt and mildew from the car, but it actually cleaned up pretty nice. It's sad, but sometimes people just give up on things and let them go to hell.

It's always a shame seeing any Corvette just sitting and rotting.

I went to look t a 1991 Coupe, the guy talked about how nice it was and he was getting older and didn't like driving it anymore.

Had weeds groing up through the hood, and I could hardly see the engine! Faded paint, all the dash gauges didn't work.....UGH!!!

Then he starts in about how it hadn't been driven in a while......

I wouldn't even make him an offer. If it was free I would have been more than twice upside down on it. Then he's like what? it's a nice car....

40 miles each way and 3 hours....

How long ago was this? Is your son able to drive it yet? I ask, because that would have been my dream back when I was 15. I'm stuck in a house with girls. My oldest thinks cars are just too expensive to want to own. 19 soon to be 20. Her prized possession is her phone. Go figure

My youngest (15) thinks that her first car should be a new vette because ..... well .... just because. But, in her words, Id be willing to take any vette! Kid takes after me

Went thru the same thing last month. My idea of a nice car and some other peoples idea of a nice car .... two entirely different things. Why buy a Vette if your not interested in it??? People are so strange.

I'd be willing to bet that this is a picture of what happend when someone passed away with no family members left to sort out property affairs. By the looks of the house and car, no one has been around for quite some time. Can't see that anyone in their right mind could live there in this bad condition.

Ever been to Maine? (and other rural areas of New England)

Looks like the lawn has been mowed...

Good point. The Corvette is not on the top of the list of urgencies in that picture.

Really? I've never been to Maine, but I would hope its not all as bad as this area pictured. Every state has places like this, but I just don't understand how anyone could consider it inhabitable. Poor car.

Oh man...it's bad up there. I grew up with the privilege of having a vacation house on a lake, near Sunday River and Mt Abram ski areas. We'd weekend up there summer and winter, water skiing and snow skiing. It was a treat to spend time up there, but houses and yards that looked like the one in you pics were COMMON. In fact, the very house my parents bought was a perfect example of this; in ruins, no heat, disgustingly dirty, linoleum flooring, tar-applied right over Maple hard wood floors(!), lathing/horsehair/plaster walls, still....it was bad. My parents bought it (3 bed, 1 bath, 1 acre w/180' lake frontage) for $40,000 in '86, then we all gutted and restored the whole house...and overgrown property. There was a ram-shackled house right across the street from our house that needed roof, siding, paint, yard work...it was a mess too. In addition, on the front porch were a stove, refrigerator, (neither of which worked) a nasty couch and lounge chair, and the home owner. He sat in that lounger every day...I don't think he worked. He was overweight, and would occasionally hack and hawk out a huge loogy in his front yard.

This was common in my experience in Maine. Another common practice was for families to allow a beautiful old farm house/property to degrade into unlivable condition....then buy a trailer/portable home and put that on the property next to the old farm house. Move into the trailer, let the farm house fall in.

Of course there are wealthier/more educated areas of New England, but rural areas...people struggle. It is stressful to see.

Guy at work has a 93 anniversary model maroon exterior/interior. Only has 47,000 miles on it. He parked it here in the lot at our shop 51/2 years ago, hasn't touched it. paint is all faded out and the interior is pretty tattered now, who knows what has been using it a a home. Tires are all dry rotted and flat, and I am sure most of all the other rubber stuff. I offered him 3 grand for it a year ago when I was looking for one, he said he wouldn't take less than 8 grand. He said cleaned up and a paint job, it would be worth 18,000, since it was an anniversary model model with only 47,000 on it. I just said, mmmok.

I was a bit afraid you might see it...and take offense. But know this; I LOVE Maine...I miss it a lot. From a natural beauty aspect, it's pretty hard to beat.

No offense taken.

It's true.

The only place I have seen that a million dollar plus mansion can have a neighboring house falling into the basement (or worse) and still be considered normal.

I will say it is an acquired taste.

That issue aside it is one beautiful place to see.
