Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, not new to cars or other forums.
Quick over view of me is I'm a plumber by trade, car guy at night. I'm not a Chevy only guy or Ford only guy, I simply enjoy cars. I own 13 at this point.
My latest acquisition is a 1984 Corvette, hence the reason I'm here.
The quick backstory on the car is I'm the third owner, the first owner bought it in 84 and put 21k on it in just over a year. The second owner bought it in 86 and from then until about a month ago when I purchased it put about 3k on it. It's currently sitting about 24k and change. The second owner used it as a show car through the late 80s and early 90s. Everything under the hood and on the chassis is either, chromed, painted, polished or powder coated. The last time the car was tabbed was 1990. the last time it ran was 1999. he tried to start it in the early 2000s but lost interest when it didn't fire immediately. He had a truckload of plaques and trophies that went to the dump shortly before I bought it.
Fast forward to about a month ago- I made a deal with him to purchase the car and got it home. After about an hour of dinking around with it, I put a battery in it and cranked it. Found it to not be getting any fuel. I pulled the fuel pump and found that the piece of rubber between the fuel pump and steel line had fallen off. I replaced it and hit the key. started right up and runs like a dream.
I've put about a hundred miles on it but need to replace the tires something awful. Speaking of tires, I also got the factory wheels with the car along with the original tires that the car left the factory with. Kinda cool, but useless. I'll post up some pics of the car so you guys can tell me what you think.
I'm really looking for what you guys think it's worth. The value on C4s seems to be a real mystery. I've seen clean low mile cars in the 4k range all the way up to 12k. What do you guys think?
Welcome to the Fourm, your 84' looks very nice. Thanks for sharing the car's story with us. For a custom car like your 84' value is hard to say as it would really depend on if it caught the fancy of a particular buyer or not.
Wow, very nice find, reminds me of my 85 with 25K miles. I wouldn't sell mine for less than 10K unless I was desperate, a low mile car that is unmolested should go for around that imho.
