I faced the same issue when my right front amp blew. It almost looks like the speaker cover is held on by velcro or something! I tugged a bit and quickly realized that it wasn't meant to pull off. You need to remove the door sill piece to get at the amp/speaker. You'll see the screws imbedded in the carpet. :cheers:

I have the Bose Gold system in my '91 and the left front speaker cuts in and out, gets staticy and sometimes starts SCREAMING like a banshee. Passenger side rear is completely dead. I havent had the time to dig into them yet but the tech tips I read here seem to be exactly like what Ill need to do. Theyre definitely a must read.

Scoob: Usually the capacitors go in the Bose amps. Do a search and you'll find the cure. I've replaced all the electrolitic caps except the 1uf 50v caps because I can't find replacements right now on 3 of my 4 amps. They usually don't go anyway. Only one is still giving me problems. I'll check into it futher. The fourth amp works but I'm going to rebuild it anyway since it's bound to blow out anyway. It only costs about 10 dollars per amp. Just get a good solder sucker from radio shack, about 7 dollars and a solder iron. It's not hard. The front door sills are held on by a couple of screws and velcro at the bottom of the speaker cover. I used 35volt caps. The original ones are only 16 volts and thats why they blow. Your charging system puts out about 15 volts, so it doesn't leave much of a buffer. Good Luck.
