Probably a dumb question but how do i tell if i have an aftermarket oil pan. Dis a oil change put a little over 5 qts in, brought it to just barely visable on the dip stick. Took a little over 6.5 to bring it to full mark. Is there some where i can get stock dimensions for the oil pan, or could the dipstick be wrong for the car. Dont want to drive alot if its overful.

What year is this C4 and what part # is on your engine oil dipstick? There should be a number on it.
Sorry should have posted in my inquiry 1985 numbers on stick 14084337 W. Ill have to wait til tomorrow to jack it up to get info from the pan if needed. Thank you in advance
O.K., so i believe by the numbers on the oil stick it belongs in this 1985. Oil pan doesnt have any significant marks on it to indicate after market. The oil stick did seem ben at the end. I straightened it out and rechecked level and it shows overfill . I drained a quart out of pan and now it shows full after having bent he tip straight. Guess that fixes it,
FIRST THING MEASURE THAT PAN corvette oil pans are a nominal 7 inch's deep at the lowest point; 6&7/8th inch actual plus approximately 1/8th inch for the pan gasket. Any pan which is deeper could be a stock pan, but not a stock pan for a corvette. Just my opinion, DON'T EXPERIMENT BY DRAINING OUT OIL.

Thanks to MTWOLFORD for the dimensions. Thats what I needed. Measured pan, 7 inches from the block to the lowest point on sump. Appears to be stock pan, with the stick numbers being right, I can safely assume the bend in the stick was effecting my reading, after straightening it out all looks normal. Thanks for info
