talked with a c3 owner/co-worker yesterday. he indicated he's buying an '85 off an older woman that lives down the street from him. it's a black over red (cloth), auto, glass top with 40K original miles - she's the original owner. he said the thing runs great - interior is near mint - paint is good, but is starting to showing its age. she's selling the thing for $6000. i told him if he decides not to go thru with the transaction, LET ME KNOW!!!

Yup! just means we can all afford a second vette now, heh. It sounds like a deal on that '85 also. In spite of the overall low price on the C4's right now Im convinced they will have the mystique and draw of the mid years...in time. Like others have said theres been sooo many diff collectable and optioned C4's I think its inevitable. The people like us here, that care for ours and hold on to them will be the ones with the 'wowers" that you see in car shows (Meaning the un-restored ones that are in beautiful original condition). The rougher C4's will be the ones getitng the restoration action like we see so much with the C3's now. Any way you look at it lower C4 prices mean better deals for those that really just love the cars for what they are. Me personally...I dont give a crap about the C4 "investors". :blueangel:
Reminds me of the urban legend about the guy who finds the pristine '67 in someones barn and picks it up for $500.00 because the old widow lady does not know any better. Isn't there a country song about the guy that buys the corvette that was owned by a guy going off to war and never comes back. He finds a note in the glove compartment that says if you find this then I didn't come back so take care of her for me?
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
