Im in the middle of taking the passenger side door apart to replace some trim and the power window ribbon, and i was wondering if there was any way to fix the hatch release switch while im in there
looks like a replacement switch for an early c4 runs about $50, a bit too much for me. The driver side and center console switches work fine

What is wrong with the switch, does it not make contact when you push it down? My passenger hatch release switch didn't work, but it was from a bad door ajar switch. At least on my '92 they are in series.

Its on an 84. The switch seems to work mechanically, it clicks down, and all the wiring looks okay. could it be as simple as spraying on some contact cleaner?
just verified both door ajar switches operate correctly; when released the dash security light comes on, when depressed it goes away.
