Default Need help with wheel decision

After 16 years of owning a 95 I have decided it's time to make it even more fun. Over the past 6 months I have repainted, new carpet, seats, weather stripping and lowered. I am stuck on what type of wheels and tires to put on. I would like something black but it's really hard to imagine what it will look like. I really don't want to order something and ship it back. Any advice or pictures would be great. Thanks!

Your paint looks great! I am not usually a big fan of aftermarket or black wheels but check out member bsstaats. His car looks great.

Are you looking for all black wheels or a little bit of shine with it?

For tires, a lot of us went for the Nitto 555 with no regrets.

I have been looking at both - thank you for the pic! It's so hard to visualize how they will look.

I've got these on my 95 ZR-1. They are Shelby Series 1 You'd have to get four front wheels to make the offset correct.

Keep it in the family. Last gen Camaro SS wheels, just powder coat them gloss black.

My experience is that, on a C4, the width of the wheels makes as much difference in the looks of the car as the design or color of the wheels. My car with stock sawblades on it gets no attention at all. With 17x11 A-mold replicas I get tons of second looks and positive comments (and people always want to race me for some reason). So, whatever you get, I recommend 17x11 or 18x11 with 50mm offset at all four corners, with 315 tires. They will fit, and they will look great.

Don't know your budget, but Forgestar has a new modular wheel that might look amazing on a C4:

I'm not a big fan of all-black wheels because I think they blend in visually too much with the tire. But these modulars with polished rims and black or dark gray centers would be great.

For less money ($360/ea), the Forgestar CF5 looks really nice on a C4. It's really easy to clean, too, which is a bonus. They have a bunch of colors available, but you can't get a polish lip so it's going to be all one color. I love the gunmetal color. Here it is in 18x11 on my car:

I love the look of those wheels, i'm also having a hard time deciding what color i want to paint my car.

Color choices so far; Yellow, black, red, or keep it silver but loose the two tone.

Thinking strongly towards red now, only thing really weighing on my mind was an RX-7 i had when i was a kid.
First one was black, almost no tickets, same driving but red color resulted in my license getting suspended twice!!

So far i have been doing well with silver, but one of the first C4's i looked at was an 84 painted "performance yellow", i did not think i liked yellow until i saw that car.

Color red is classic, and you just can't go wrong.

Black reminds me of that first car, and it's one of my favorite colors.

Silver would be easier since i would not have to remove the doors for the repaint, and silver is a classic corvette color...

And back to the topic of wheels, if your patient you can find a nice set of C5 or C6 wheels cheap.
I paid $300 for my wheels in almost perfect condition, i believe there were a few scratches on the inside and some super minor road rash on one of the fronts (i have to look really hard to find it).

However with my early C4 i have to use a 1 inch spacer, i was worried about it at first, but these things are pretty beefy.
1 inch wheel adapter installed with C5 brake upgrade

I like the sawblade wheels if the car is kept completely stock. As far as the budget goes... I have learned it's better to not have one when it comes to owning/restoring a corvette. If my wife approves then it's ok. Thanks for mentioning the tire size you have done - that's what I'm leaning towards. I chose black for the overall appearance I'm going after - just trying to make it look a little more meaner.

Black A-Molds were my choice.

But Silver A-Molds make a good change of pace

I like the look of the Forgestar wheels that were suggested earlier. I also quite like the look of the OEM C5 Z06 Wheels on our cars. I put the 18x10.5 rear wheels on all 4 corners of mine.

The wheels also look at home if you put C5/6 brakes on your car. (mine are C6 J55 brakes).

Best of luck on your wheel choice lots of great options to choose from

So many choices. My advice is to avoid any rim that requires a spacer and keep the rim size at 17 or 18. 19 inch maybe more trouble than they are worth.

I also like the monster width of the C4 ZR1 wheel set 275 front 315 rear, but I worry that might be too wide. Making the front a little more uneasy over bumps and it may act a little weird during tight parking turns. The super wide 315 tire looks awesome but it does not like tight turns.

Thank you everyone for the advice and pictures. I have decided to go with the C6 grand sport black rims. When it's all complete I will post some pics.

Are you sure you want to go with those size tires? The front tire will have a lot more sidewall than the rear. A 255/40-17 would be a lot closer to a sidewall match. If you want the same tire diameter front and rear go with 18s front and rear. If you make up the difference in the sidewall height it really doesn't look right. JMHO. Your car your choice.
