In doing a google search for Shop manual for my 1985, Amazon Shoes a manual for 52.00 plus shipping. Is this the Factory shop manual everyone says I need. Its shows a red Cover with Corvette logo in the middle and says GM factory service manual. If its the right one Ill buy it.
It says its 900 pages, but i think there may be an electrical supplement that might be your second book, this might not have it. Price seemed better than ive seen

I'll look when I get home but both are manuals. But I know it's part 1 and part 2

yes mine say service manual volume 1 and volume 2
volume 1 has 766 pages and volume 2 has 959 pages.
Probably gonna hop on the 25 dollar e bay as recomended above. Thanks to both for taking time. I think Chad 74 has a newer C4 which would account for the larger manual
If you happen to see one with a blue plastic cover, I think that was the ones that were in the dealership service departments. You can open/unlock the cover and add sections or updates to it as they came out.
You do have to be careful in that someone has not removed any parts of them, but it's great for adding stuff when it comes up (like adding info on the tremec tranny that's in my car).
IIRC I spent something like $50-$75 for mine when I found it and it's been a lifesaver more than once.
Does it look like this? I believe the earlier C4s are just 1 volume because my 89 manual is only one volume/book. My 1991 manual is also 1 volume/book but, my 1993 is two volumes/books. Just for info, my 2003 for my Z06 is three volumes/books. I haven't ordered one for my 2013 yet but, I will here shortly. Its probably six volumes/books by now.

Got you beat on my 88 books purchased in the late 90's.. The garage is a harsh place in the summer months near Charlotte, NC
Staples will shave off the glued binders of those for about $2, then you can punch the holes (if needed) and put the pages into a press-board binder. I have done several like that.

Cool, thanks. I'm going to need them for the next 20 years.
Yeah it appears consenus is that 85 is a 1 volume, i was gonna get the 25 dollar one off ebay but it looks pretty ratty. There are several in the mid 40 dollar range, worth it. By the way, i have the manual on CD , but its a pain to search and nothing better then flipping the pages and taking it to where you are doing the work.

I agree! I like having the book in my hands...or at the car...or just sitting at my work bench with a beer browsing through...

That is only the 'mechanical' part... 1991 has another volume, Electrical supplement manual (or something like that, both books are in the car right now, so I can't confirm the spelling), which is a much thinner book.

My 1987 is also two volumes, one for mechanical and another for electric diagnosis.......

It is great to be able to carry an actual book to the shop for car work! (I recently bought the shop manual for my '16 Mustang and discovered it is ONLY available on CD....... No hardcopy at all. Of course, it is over 6,000 pages!!!)
Gary definitely has me beat with his 1986 well used manual. But, what about old service manuals? The pages in these manuals are no longer yellow, they are a yellow to a brownish color and these manuals will cover the Corvette from 1968-1974.
