Red Caliper Covers
I just installed these red caliper covers from Summitt Racing. While I do know that they do absolutely nothing, and there are no special upgraded brakes on the car, I think they look pretty good. They are fairly pricey at $199.00, but what the heck. What do you guys think?

1. they reek of faux. I can't help but wonder, why stop there? If you're going to make your brakes look like something that they're not, why not add a turbo whistle to your exhaust, and a 'supercharger whine' gear drive to your cam? Yes, I don't "get it".
2. for $100.01 more, I got red C5 brakes, that actually DO do something...and look good too.

I never wanted them to look "like something they're not". I just think they look better with these wheels than looking at the stock calipers. Not interested at all in C5 brakes as mine work just fine as they are. I don't race this car, so this was just an appearance upgrade.

What matter is you like it, your car

Just remember, opinions are like that part of the anatomy that everyone has one of and for the most part, they stink.
If they didn't sell enough of them to justify making them, then they wouldn't be there for sale in the first place. Enough folks must think they look pretty good.
I will probably do mine in red also, but I have an Eastwood store within a 1/2 hr drive so I am going to use one of their products when I have the calipers out of the car for a rebuild.
I think they look just fine.

These come in red, black or silver. They're made from aircraft grade aluminum. Tig welded and powder coated. The letters are deeply ingraved in silver with the correct 85 year Corvette lettering. Very well made. Anyone can tell just by looking at the smaller brake rotors that these are stock brakes and nothing special. They just dress up the wheel areas. Nothing more. That's all I wanted. I guess my spending $199.00 is strange, but it's the going price from all the vendors.

I like them! I had a set on my 1984 when I had C5 thin spokes on it.

they are really ugly and spoil the looks of the car..I will do you a big favor. Take then off and send them to me, heck, I will even pay 1/4 of the shipping. I wouldn't normaly do this..but for a forum brother..

Thanks. I agree that open designed wheels have a way of showing off everything behind the wheels. Sometimes the mechanicals back there ruin the open wheel look. I just wanted something to improve the looks of the working parts. I think I did. The sale price should have been a lot lower in my opinion, but I didn't really want the bother of dismantling and painting the original calipers only to have the same utilitarian look of them, only in color.

They look good. They are no different than getting different wheels, or exhaust tips and so on they just give an added touch to a car that looks good no matter. Me, I would prefer the black, I love the stealth look.

Cost aside, I agree that if you like them all is well.
What I notice looking at your wheel/brake setup is that the brakes seem small for the wheels. Like there's a size mis-match going on.
Love the red.
