Default Interior light question...

When I replaced the light above the door handle on my '91 convertible, I noticed there is a second, smaller light, (a#73 bulb), in there also. But I don't see it ever come on. It doesn't come on with the courtesy lights when I open the door, or with the interior lights when I put the dimmer switch to full"on" position. In the owners manual it's listed as the "door flood light". Anyone know what that means? And when is it supposed to come on?

Inquiring minds want to know...

It lights up dimly when the headlights are on. You can only see it when it's really dark and it throws light on the door lock and grab handle.

Maybe my bulbs are burned out, because neither of them came on when I just turned the headlights on.

Either that or a fuse. You really don't notice unless you're aware of them, like the center console flood. Check again at night when the door is closed.

I always "thought" the FLOOD operation was controlled by the CCM and the AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR in the DIC. I don't know that I've ever seen documentation to that but maybe the test for operation you do the request in AS DARK AS POSSIBLE conditions or maybe put some black tape over the DIC sensor. Kind of a WAG but I believe it's what I'd try were it mine.

Default Fixed...

It turns out both bulbs were burned out. Put in two new ones, and they both light when the parking/head lights are put on.

Thanks guys!
