When I replaced the light above the door handle on my '91 convertible, I noticed there is a second, smaller light, (a#73 bulb), in there also. But I don't see it ever come on. It doesn't come on with the courtesy lights when I open the door, or with the interior lights when I put the dimmer switch to full"on" position. In the owners manual it's listed as the "door flood light". Anyone know what that means? And when is it supposed to come on?
Maybe my bulbs are burned out, because neither of them came on when I just turned the headlights on.
Either that or a fuse. You really don't notice unless you're aware of them, like the center console flood. Check again at night when the door is closed.
I always "thought" the FLOOD operation was controlled by the CCM and the AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR in the DIC. I don't know that I've ever seen documentation to that but maybe the test for operation you do the request in AS DARK AS POSSIBLE conditions or maybe put some black tape over the DIC sensor. Kind of a WAG but I believe it's what I'd try were it mine.
