Hi all. Just wanted to share this with whomever. I've had this idea for a ring forever. This was a trial run kinda thing as I didn't know know if polystyrene would burn out sufficiently enough for casting.
I used a wheel from a 1/24 a all corvette model and set it into this wax model of a gents signet ring I had. I used scrap silver and not casting grain so it has a bit of pitting in the shank and I didn't take the "chrome" playing off of the wheel so I don't know if that had any part in the putting as well.
Overall it didn't turn out too bad. It faces up ok on my hand.
Thanks for looking.
Thanks for the nice words everyone. I'm a bench jeweler. The flags are on my necklace,I didn't carve them, I ordered them from the same place I ordered the ring blank.
I have a 95 vert, so that's why I did the saw blades, I also have an 08 coupe so I might give it another try with those wheels. This was just a trial to see if I could cast polystyrene.
It actually looks better in person than a photo.
Thanks again for the kind words!
