I'm currently entering into my third year of ownership of a 1992 Arctic White Coupe 6-Speed. The car is in really nice shape and I have it registered as a Classic Rod here in Las Vegas, Nevada. I currently average 7.5K miles per year, however those are all corvette related miles.
I currently use Haggerty as my insurance carrier. My price per year is just under $400. So out of curiosity, I did a quote through Grundy. They sent me a quote for $217 which is just under half as much. At first blush, this deal seems to good to be true. In my travels, when something seems to good to be true, it usually is. So I ask you, the great C4 members of this forum if you have experience that would help me in my decision. Your time is appreciated!!
Grundy actually encourages owners to get their Corvettes out on the highways; no miles restriction. For me, that is by far the best reason to insure with Grundy.
Also, I believe Haggerty requires you to park your Corvette in your garage every night. If you are taking it on an extended road trip, well, lots of luck getting that cleared with Haggerty. Also, also, if you are staying overnight at your SO's place.....
And yes, Grundy costs a lot less.
Before you jump on the NCM bandwagon, check on what, if any, restrictions they place on driving your Corvette.
None of the names here are actually insurance companies. They are insurance agents.
This is not necessarily a bad thing. Your agent is your representative if something should go wrong. The insurance company is not always your friend. That's why you need an agent.
You might ask the agent which insurance company they use. You might discover that some use the same company.
I went with NCM/American after Grundy told me i could never drive it to work, which is also why i'll never use Haggerty.
For me the reason why I have a nice corvette is to drive it a couple days a week, not park it in the garage and take a cruise on the weekend - which you never end up having enough time to do when you aren't supposed to actually drive it anywhere like going out to eat or the drug store.

NCM all the way. You find out what kind of agent you have when you file a claim. They paid for a new windshield and installation on a C4 I owned. I got to pick the installer and it cost me $0.
Installer came to my house and did a great job. Told me that it would cost $500 if I had to pay for it myself!
I've been with Hagerty for 20 years now. I have a 73 and 95 Corvette as well as a BMW motorcycle and a 69 Van. Hagerty covers them all. I had the "drive it to work" discussion. They said just don't go overboard. I was asked about garage kept, but not restricted to "every night". Grundy was only a few dollars less and they would not cover the cycle. I've had a couple of claims with Hagerty which were quickly and painlessly covered. I have no complaints at all.

Contact Adam at NCM. They will lead you to an affiliate that is licensed in your home state. Here are the rules--1. agreed value (I wish they did this on regular policies). 2. Estimate miles driven. 3. They want the Corvette in a garage. My experience is the garage thing is non-negotiable. Your reward is a very low premium. As with any insurance, I would avoid making minor or nuisance claims. Good luck.

We insurance any collector car, just not daily use vehicles.
I have had bad experiences with both of them. I have State Farm (staying with them for my long ago issued life insurance) BUT they have a little know collectors car division, I have had an AGREED NOT STATED value policy on my car for decades....no claims other than a glass claim, no issues and cheap..much cheaper than my later model generic drivers. Just need it to be in a garage, no real mileage restrictions.
