Steering wheel

Melting Slicks
It would help if you bought a manual and you are going to need a steering puller. I bought my puller as the cost is not great or you may try AutoZone to see if they have a loaner.
That being said do the following:
Pull the cap off. There will be a wiring connector attached to it.
There is a funny looking star shaped bolt. This controls the telescopic function. I put some white out on the bolt where the 2 screws are to make the reinstall make sense.
When you remove the star head bolt the top telescopic lever will come loose.
There should be a nut in the center to remove.
Next is pulling the wheel off. The steering wheel has splines in the middle that match up to the splines
In the column.
This is where you need a puller.
There is a giant spring behind the wheel. This is part of the horn connection. Note how the spring is installed.
Putting the wheel back on can be a bit frustrating as the inside spindle that the center nut you removed will move in and out. You need to keep this spindle/shaft pulled out in order to re-install the wheel.
Hope I didn’t leave anything out. I have pulled my wheel several times because I bought a new wheel, the spring had to be sanded to remove the rust off on the big end so my horn would work, and finally I re-painted the wheel to make it look new again.
