Default Sensor on radiator 85

I've been doing some research on different Corvette site including the forum but haven't come across a clear cut answer. I think this is the low coolant sensor but I just want to make sure. I have no plug going to it. This is a replacement radiator that is on the car. Did all 85's have the low coolant sensor? Mine has no plug even in the vicinity that would go to that. No lights on in the DIC. If it is the low coolant sensor, I'm not concerned about it but I just want to make sure that is actually what it is.

Another question I have is does anyone have an idea where this plug is supposed to go? See below pic. It doesn't go to the wiper fluid bottle as that one is already down there. (You can't see it in the pic). You also cant see in the pic that the loom that it is in wraps back to the back of the engine. I can't for the life of me see anywhere where it is supposed to plug in to.

A newer radiator has been installed in the car. The 85 did not have a low level sensor on the radiator. I had the same thing when I installed a new one in my 85. Looked all over hell for that plug....there is not one.

Your other electrical plug. How are forward will this stretch? To the front of the engine? There are several plugs up there that this could go to. Look up forward in the wheel well section...could it be a plug for the lights?? Check the other side up front and see if there is a matching one. You can see the little "snap in plug" attached to the corrugated wire coverings. This should plug into the side of the body around the wheel well.

Thanks for that info! Attached is a pic showing how far up it extends. I looked on the other side and found nothing like/similar to it. It goes back behind engine and into right where the wiring harness passes through the firewall to go to the computer. It's the original harness to the car as far as I know.

Colors and pin-out of the connector. Cavities are generally A - B - C etc.

ESC Module that should be attached to the blower housing and visible very near the top of the RH Fender panel. The BLUE would ultimately go to the KNOCK

I don't see an ESC module there. See pic. There is one thing mounted to the blower motor and then a couple of single connections on the blower motor but nothing else. Is that thing that's mounted off the front of the blower housing near the bottom the ESC module? Something is already plugged into that. Am I missing something here or is something screwy going on?

Thanks for that pic. I can see it clearly there. That's very interesting because mine does not have that. Is there any reason mine would not have it, besides someone just removing it and never putting it back on? My car runs fantastic by the way even with the knock sensor not being hooked up. By the way my knock sensor wire is cut at the sensor which I've discussed in a very recent post.

I just realized mine doesn't have what I believe is called a cooling tube coming off of the blower motor like the one in your pic does. As I understand it allows it to take in fresh air instead of underhood air. I never knew there was supposed to be one there but mine has the hole for it. Is that crucial in any way to have? I am learning so many little things about this car lately due to researching and asking questions on this forum. By the way thank you WVZR-1 and everyone else for your help

Well Sir, I'm wondering if the 85's didn't use an ESC.

Someone will chime in soon....

My 87 has that, bright green wire that goes into the fan wiring bundle and up the left / drivers side.

It does not go to the front is it this, also I have the sensor but don't use it, if the orings go bad lowes has them to match up. Just don't break it it is 25 dollars.

I'd be willing to bet one of two things happened. Either something was loose on the engine, making a noise or vibration caused false knock, or someone left the ground off the back of the engine during maintenance or engine/transmission removal.

I noticed after I bought my 85 Corvette that the ESC connector was left off. I plugged it back in and on the next drive the car fell on its face during acceleration. Turns out there was a ground that was supposed to be bolted to the back of the engine that was left off. Once that was hooked up my ESC worked fine. The missing ground was probably picked up as knock and the ECU pulled all the timing it could in response.
