Great success!
I tried a cheap ICM, and it didn't fix it. Figured it was optispark time, with 130k or so on the original, it was time. Figured since I was digging down that deep, may as well do plugs and wires at the same time. I had never done them and figured it was good preventative maintenance.
So after fighting the crank pulley being welded to the hub with rust and all the usual stuff, got it all in. Had a moment of clarity and figured I'd try to start it real quick. No change. Troubleshooter and found I had no spark from coil, traced it back to that brand new icm I bought didn't work. Got a refund and bought a new icm, put it in and with a little bit of choking on bad gas, it starts again.
Now begins the process of finishing up the spark plug wire holders, installing the water pump and getting everything back together, but it's a good feeling that it starts again.
I'm right there with you on our '95. New Opti, plugs, wires, hoses, water pump, timing cover seals. It's mostly back together now, except for one reluctant knock sensor that will not come out. Don't you just love that Harmonic Balancer?

Before reassembly, after the new Opti, it wouldn't start. Noid light looked weak with occasional brighter flashes.
The coil connection looked bad, so I sanded it and cleaned it up with some Never dull. It fired up with a bad miss, then died.
New coil installed and it fired up like a champ. Now I'm one knock sensor away from success. A light at the end of a long tunnel.
