96 corvette

RUUUUUUUN!!!Be patient and dont settle. You know your budget, you know what colors you like, you know what options you want...its out there - just be patient.
Also, not sure, but Im the type of person that is willing to drive about 3 hours for the RIGHT car...so maybe expand your search to distant towns or even the next state over from you...
Just saying.....options are out there. Be patient!!

Knowing it is a 5 owner vehicle at 47k miles with an accident makes it something I would not be interested in. If I was, there is no way I would pay more than $8k for that car.
To the OP, don't get carried away with your emotions. It is a buyer's market when it comes to C4's. This seller telling you if the car fax is an issue then don't buy it, is just a sales ploy. Trying to talk you out of it plays to your emotions just making you want it more.
You can find a very nice C4 for under $10k...heck you can even find a very nice C5 for under $10k.
Good luck with your search.
I don't see where you said that before this post... but regardless, you can ignore anything any seller tells you. Always check it out for yourself, and have a mechanic who knows Corvettes check it out mechanically, unless you have that skill yourself.
My '96 LT4 had around 48K miles on it, was in darn near excellent shape, and it still had several things go wrong with it while I owned it. Some mechanical things just happen with age, and the amount of care any of the FIVE owners gave it has nothing to do with that.
Three people ahead of you now? What is this, a line at the grocery store?
Don't listen to that crap! Cash puts you first in line, so if that's the one you want, offer more money.I'm not sure where you stand with all of this, but if you haven't made a purchase, I'd suggest continuing to seek advice. I think for a '96 LT1, you shouldn't ever, EVER pay more than $9k, and that's only if it's in pristine condition. For an LT4 you would probably want to pay a bit more, but you're still looking at $10K or $11K at the most. And that bad boy better be factory new to get that much! (at least around here in N. Kali)
And whatever you do, simply do not believe anything a seller tells you about being in line, or having other offers. Make your offer and let the seller know that you are perfectly willing to WALK AWAY! My buyer made it clear that he wouldn't come up the last $500 I wanted, so what did I do? Well... I'll tell you... the word is CAVED!
I had so few nibbles that I couldn't afford to lose the sale over $500 and I would strongly suspect any '96 C4 seller you deal with may be in a similar position. Good luck!
