Default Is it time?

I miss my lady of late. She is out side under the shed and I ask is it time to clean the shop out and pull her in? She always served me well, through good and bad; we went through a lot together and I have never been able to part with her. I purchased the red on red beauty in 1998. Though I had trucks before her she was my first car, and what I had always wanted. She was already ten years old as an 87 model but was new to me and at 19 years old I felt like I was on top of the world. I kept her original over the years adding only a set of centerline polished aluminum wheels. Life has been busy and I have had little time or need for a 2 seater in family life and the rat race. Part of me says to buy a good low mile 87 and ditch her since she needs paint, interior, motor and transmission overhaul and probably every bearing replaced but I am having a hard time letting her go.

From strictly an economics point of view you would be much better of ditching her and finding one that doesn't have quite so many issues. If life is busy, you probably won't be able to find the time to get all those issues resolved either. That is a ton of work.

Yeah I know that would be the best thing to do.....got my eyes out for a cream puff 1987 red on red with low miles. Saw a black one go for 8000 recently. Only hade 50xxx miles on it, looked like it was maybe 5 years old at most. These cars can be had dirt cheap!!!! either way my baby is staying with me whether she hits the rode again or stays a piece of yard art!!!!

She started knocking back in 2008, wasn't bad but was a knock, shut her down and haven't cranked her since.

Paint is one thing, but....buy one in a better shape, low mieage, stock, OR build that car up and make it a real beast that you're not afraid to put a scratch in, two ways to go with it, obviously the second one being more difficult, but possibly more rewarding (unless shops give you a hard time, or do a poor job)

Any reason you have to stick with an 87? Why not jump to an LT1, and get a bit newer of a model, close to the same price range, and if you want a project - there are plenty out there with a wide range of issues that you could work on...

Just my .02 cents...

Let them fall in love with the crème puff first and then start working on getting your orig. '87 fixed up with them. I would have loved a project like that when I was in Jr high with my dad.

Yes, always possible but keep in mind Jr can get in trouble real fast in a hot hatch these days.

Bottom line find a crème puff to start and see what the future brings.
