'96 corvette windshield wipers
Have '96 corvette standard coupe. When hood is opened windshield wipers slide down and become captured under hood when closed.... ? Anyone have solution or insight to this problem? Apologize for not researching for a thread (I'm a newbie) Cheers, John

'96 Vette windshield wiper problem
RUU..... Thanks for the info, the wipers are definately not low profile ones. (probably just generic WalMart ones). Definately a narrow gap between back edge of hood (bonnet) and bottom edge of windshield. Will try the Trico ones asap. Anyone else with words of wisdom? Thanks again for advise................ OK Kid

Nothing to add over what RUU already posted.
The wiper blades rest just under the hood straight from the factory.
If yours on hitting the hood, someone replaced them with the wrong kind.

'96 blades are very different from what's marketed for 'most' C4 - '95 and '96 are different than any '94 and earlier. For a '96 you want a Trico 20-4 Exact Fit or ACD 8-2204 OR OE/GM from the dealer.

When I need wiper blades I go to the auto parts store and tell them to put the blades on the car and then I try them. When they do not fit under the hood the blades get taken off and the people in the store find the correct ones. It is easy for me and does not cost any extra. And I get blades that fit on my first visit.

I had a problem with my 95 too. All the new ones clear the hood by a tiny fraction of an inch plus they don't seat in the bracket on the bottom of the wiping stroke. There is a little "L" bracket that they rest in when in the down position, below the hood. New style ones sit too high and miss the bracket. I lucked out and found refills at my local O 'Reilly's, in their old stock bin that I installed in the old blade frames. Even though the parts book says the new assemblies fit, the don't fit properly.
