lift the front wheels in the air (noticably not like 2") on a C4 with gears and slicks etc.? I know there is no exact range but what is a reasonable guess? Just curious... its not like my car is even half way there! When cars do this does a lot of it have to do with the suspension setup or is it just about raw power?
Yo dawg, you can get some hydraulics in there and raise them off tha ground as much as you want, dawg. You can get some gold rims too, dawg. That'd be fly. :jester
That'd be off tha chain to see a Corvette at a lowrider competition, yo!
Hooking and suspension have a huge role in lifting the tires, obviously you need power but crazy sticky slicks and the right suspension and you could lift the tires. A stick shift certainly helps in this department. I know a guy that bracket races a 440 road runner with somewhere in the realm of 500-600 hp (stick shifted) and he lifts the tires on every launch. i realize thats alot more power than a vette (atleast stock) but the road runner is whole lot more car (weight).
Re: How much power does it take to... (behnevette)
It would be really hard to bring up the front end on the vette because of the IRS. If you drop in a solid axle in a C-4, a mid to low 10 sec car would bring up the front at least 4-6".
I haven't seen it, but I've heard of a vette that just wheelies way up in the air but doesn't slam back down. It just slowly lowers back to the earth and gently grounds down the track. Guy said it was the wierdest thing he's ever seen. It might be true but I think it would have been to be wearing boots when I heard that. :jester
On a L98 what is the highest sensible stall for the converter? Around 3000? Because right after that torque has already peaked. BTW that would be one awesome sleeper of a car.

Why stop at just the front wheels??? :jester

At first, you'd think that was 10/10 on a track, but since when are there railroad crossings on racetracks? I use the same technique on every rental car I get.

Re: How much power does it take to... (November Soul)
It's all in the way the car is setup.. I knew a guy with a Maverick that would pull the tires up around 6 inchs... the car ran 13.0's all day long on a pretty much stock 302.
My GN would lift the driver side tire off the ground a good 12 inches... passenger side 2-3 inches and that car ran low 11's...
